Surroundings

The old picturesque town of Bergerac, in the heart of renowned vineyards, has a lot to offer: museums; food markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays; restaurants with delicious traditional cuisines; and a wide variety of shops in the pedestrian Old Town. Medieval bastide towns such as Beaumont, Castillonnès, Eymet, Issigeac and Monpazier with their weekly markets are close by. Here, too, you will find delightful restaurants catering to all tastes and budgets. Many castles, such as the Château de Monbazilliac, famous for its dessert wines, and the fairy-tale Château de Biron are open to the pubic. The famous prehistoric cave paintings, like those of Lascaux and Font de Gaume, are close by. Obviously, a visit to one of the many wine cellars to taste a delicious “Bergerac” wine, is not to be missed.
